Why Post a Job online instead of print media.

The shift in the way companies advertise job vacancies has changed dramatically over recent years, from traditional classified advertising to online job posting. This is purely down to the way job seekers now search for jobs. Gone are the days of waiting till job night on a Thursday in the local newspaper once a week up to now what is a global 24/7 online recruitment phenomenon. The way recruitment companies and corporate companies advertise their vacant positions have fallen in line with the mass migration to online advertising. Job posting is now very much a self service operation where companies have more control over the way they advertise their vacancies online. Due to the sheer volume of job postings online across 100's of job boards there are a few important points to consider to make your online job posting stand out from other online job advertising to get the attention of job seekers.

Making the most of online job posting.

    1
It makes sense to do a bit of research of the best job boards to post a job vacancy on, so your online job posting will attract and appeal to right types of applicants you're looking for. This is done by typing in job titles into search engines and seeing which job boards are at the top of the rankings, these will be the best ones to post a job, Then visit the sites and see if it would attract the right kind of candidates with the right qualifications to your job advertisement.

2 Once you have a list of sites that you feel are appropriate to your job advert; prioritize the sites that are most appropriate for you. If you have a particular budget, posting a job on multiple job boards will increase the success of your applicant attraction. Make sure that if you post to multiple job boards you cover niche, generic and geographical areas of online advertising. By using a service such as the ‘all-in-one' job posting platform recruitersite this type of method can be cost effective and time saving as well as extremely effective in talent acquisition

3 Now it's time to build your job posting. Choose the skill category that best fits your job description, if the job board allows multiple category selection use as many as you can in order to make sure you attract and capture the attention  of job seekers that have the qualities you are looking for. Remember to make sure the job title of job post is easily recognizable to job seekers that currently do that position.

4 Once you have job title, category and geographical area now it's time to build the job description for your online job posting, make sure that you write a headline that will attract your desired type of candidate. The aim of any type of online job advertisement is to grab the attention of the right type of talent. This is done by making sure that you offer benefits and explain the positive points of working for your company or client. If you are offering an attractive salary make sure you advertise this as well.

5 A good point to remember is you have on average 4000 characters to post a job to use to portray in the best way the job description and details about what your company can offer in ways of benefits.  Include a paragraph within your job posting with points on what makes your company better to work for than your competitors. Also make sure you have a call to action in your job advertisement and make it clear how you want job seekers to apply. It's also a good idea to have contact details and a contact name where possible
