Qualifications and Experience
The minimum number of years of experience will depend on the company in question and the expertise they are looking for in candidates who are interested in careers in energy and utility. Some companies will offer on site training to ensure that applicants are trained according to certain requirements even if they have prior experience in energy and utility jobs. Roles that require technical knowledge can only be accomplished if the applicant has the necessary knowledge in the area and thus avoid long training sessions that are often costly to any company. Leadership roles, however, do require years of prior experience to show competency and skills acquired through experience in previous energy and utility jobs. Depending on the role in question, the general requirements for energy and utility jobs can range from GSCE, bachelors or master's degree with specialisations in specific areas. Other requirements include:
-Excellent organisation skills;
-Ability to work in a group or with different types of people;
-Excellent communication skills;
-Knowledge of industry trends and changes in rules that govern energy and utility;
-Leaderships skills-where applicable;
-Innovativeness.
